Rajoub: New PA gov't needed, but not via violence

Fatah official Jibril Rajoub, the former head of the Palestinian Preventive Security Service in the West Bank, said Tuesday that the Hamas government had failed and that it was necessary to reach an agreement on the establishment of a new government. In an interview with Israel Radio, Rajoub called for the factions to solve their problems through strategic discussion rather than expressing their opinions through weapons and violence. Rajoub said the situation in the PA territories was critical and worrisome, but that he was not concerned that a civil war would break out, since most Palestinians were opposed to it. The Fatah official also expressed hope that Israel would not interfere in the internal Palestinian fighting.
