Report: Syria welcomes US overtures regarding Iraq

According to the Syrian state-run paper Tishrin on Tuesday, Syria welcomes the suggestion that the United States might seek its help to stabilize Iraq and is waiting to see whether Washington will open the way for talks with Damascus. "Syria is ready for dialogue with the United States to achieve security and stability ... and extends its hands sincerely as always waiting for a response. The ball is in their court," an editorial said. "Statements on the need for dialogue with Syria and how to start addressing the problems of the region as a whole are interesting," Tishreen said.
