Rocket attack wounds 8 Pakistani soldiers

A roadside bomb and militant rocket fire wounded eight Pakistani troops in the latest attacks on security forces near the Afghan frontier, officials said Monday. The bombing happened about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Miran Shah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal region, where militants this month pulled out of a peace deal with the government. The blast hit a pick-up truck carrying Frontier Corps soldiers Monday on the road between Bannu and Razmak, which was then sealed off by security forces trying to locate the perpetrators, the official said on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to journalists. Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad said four FC troops suffered minor injuries in the remote-controlled bombing. He said seven suspects were detained.
