Saudi authorities behead 2 men convicted of drug trafficking

Authorities on Sunday beheaded two Saudi Arabian citizens convicted of drug trafficking, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. The statement, carried by the official Saudi Press Agency, said Abdul-Rahman al-Rasheed and Qashaan al-Sbe'ei confessed to sneaking large amounts of drugs into the kingdom. The two were executed in the eastern port city of Jubail. Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed.
