Suicide bomber strikes municipal council building west of Baghdad

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt inside the municipal council headquarters Thursday in a town west of Baghdad during a meeting of tribal sheiks, Iraqi police said. Initial reports showed that at least seven people died in the blast in the town of Karmah, including some sheiks and the town's administrative director. The attack is the third this week against municipal government meetings. One occurred in Salman Pak south of Baghdad and the other in the capital Shiite district of Sadr City.
