US, Iraq forces arrest high level al-Qaida suspect

US and Iraqi forces have captured a high-level al-Qaida in Iraq suspect in the north of the country, authorities said. The suspect, who was not named, was captured on Wednesday near the city of Mosul, 360 kilometers (225 miles) northwest of Baghdad, the US-led coalition said in a statement released late Saturday. It described him as a "targeted high level al-Qaida in Iraq terrorist" and said intelligence reports indicated he was "an extremely active weapons facilitator" involved in car bomb attacks on Iraqi police. There were also indications he had been helping arrange a meeting of "high level terrorists," the statement said.
