US soldier killed by small-arms fire in Baghdad

A US soldier was killed by small-arms fire in Baghdad, the military said Monday. The Multi-National Division - Baghdad soldier died Sunday after coming under attack by small-arms fire while conducting security operations in a western section of the capital, according to a statement. The soldier's identity was not released pending notification of relatives. The death raised to at least 3,374 the number of members of the US military who have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
