A man from Rishon Lezion is in custody due to police suspicions that he killed his mother on Wednesday night. The suspect, a Russian native, has denied the suspicions during police questioning. He contacted paramedics on Wednesday and requested that they go to his mother’s home, where her body was found with apparent choke marks. Police arrested him soon afterwards.“The circumstances of this incident are not yet clear,” a police spokeswoman said. She declined to comment on whether the man had a history of mental health issues. It was also not immediately clear whether the man was an Israeli citizen. The Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court extended his custody by nine days.Earlier this week, a second man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his mother to death. The suspect, Binyamin Davidi, 41, is undergoing psychiatric examinations to establish whether he is of sound mind. The suspect’s attorney, Neil Simon, argued that police were wrong to believe that the killing was a premeditated murder, adding that the incident constituted manslaughter.Police have refused to confirm reports that Davidi is a former drug addict.
