PM talks doctors' strike with Health, Finance ministries

Netanyahu says doctors in periphery and medical residents should receive extra support; no progress made at meeting.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with representatives from the Health Ministry and Finance Minister on Tuesday, in attempt to resolve the doctors' strike.
Netanyahu reviewed the negotiations with the Israel Medical Association, but there no progress was made at the meeting.

The prime minister expressed support for the Finance Ministry's suggestion that doctors agree to swipe a time card in exchange for receiving a higher monthly salary. He added that the doctors who should receive the most support are residents and doctors in the periphery.
Netanyahu serves as Health Minister, but Deputy Health Minister Ya'acov Litzman (UTJ) holds most of the responsibility for the ministry.
The Finance Ministry plans to resume negotiations with the IMA, which were halted due to Pessah, later Tuesday.
