The Hermon Mountain ski slopes opened for the season Wednesday morning.
The mountain opened to the public early after one-and-a-half meters of snow fell in the past week. The vice president of the Hermon mountain ski area told Channel 10 that the ski area received "a great amount of snow," adding that it was an amount "that we are not used to seeing this much snow so early in the winter."
He said that all of the mountain's ski runs would open Wednesday.
Mountain operators said they expected 1,500 visitors in the season's opening day.
Police on Wednesday warned the public arriving at the mountain to stick to the roads and not to enter fields, as minefields are still present in the area.
