Baseball: Jerusalem Reds trump Tel Aviv Comrades

Jerusalem’s big victory over Tel Aviv gives Reds 1st place in baseball Premier League.

The Jerusalem Reds trumped the Tel Aviv Comrades 9-1 on Thursday evening, securing first place in the Premier League ahead of the upcoming playoffs.
Yoni Alter, Orr Gottlieb and Amit Kurz combined to hurl a four-hitter against the stymied Comrades, while Beni Friedman scored three runs for the victorious Reds.
The game was tied 1-1 in the third inning when the Reds embarked on a threerun rally, and added three more in the fifth to insure the victory.
Alter picked up the win, while Comrades pitcher Yuli Tsypin was tagged with the loss.
Starter Josh Shulman of Tel Aviv pitched well for the first two innings, keeping the game even.
But an outfield error in the third inning led to two Jerusalem runs and opened the floodgates for the Reds, who were able to coast towards their goal of first place.
Beni Friedman scored three runs for the Reds.
