Hapoel Gilboa/Galil continued its recent resurgence on Sunday night, defeating Bnei Hasharon 87-71 at Gan Ner.After the first half ended in a 42-42 tie, Gilboa outscored Bnei Hasharon 30-5 in the third quarter and cruised to its third victory in four BSL games.The visitors led 23-14 after 10 minutes, but Gilboa erased the deficit by the break and crushed Bnei Hasharon in the third period to close in on home-court advantage in the quarterfinal playoffs.Erik Daniels led Oded Katash’s team in his debut, scoring 20 points in 20 minutes. Jeremy Pargo had 13 points and 10 assists, with Elishay Kadir continuing his excellent season with 11 points and eight rebounds.P.J. Tucker had 19 points and nine rebounds for Bnei Hasharon, but the team has lost two of its three encounters since he joined.Meanwhile, Ironi Ashkelon took a significant step towards the playoffs with an 87-81 home victory over Hapoel Afula.Omar Sneed had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Ashkelon, with Justin Dentmon scoring 22 for Afula, which has lost four of its last five games.Also Sunday, Barak Netanya dropped to a disappointing 92-74 loss at Maccabi Rishon Lezion.Rishon led just 62-54 with 10 minutes to play, but pulled ahead in the final period to claim a second win in three games.Ogonna Onyekwe led the hosts with 22 points and nine rebounds, with Larry O’Bannon adding 20 points.DaniloPinnock had 21 points for Netanya, which has lost two straight gamesand as a result faces an uphill battle to finish in the top four andclaim home-court advantage in the playoffs.Maccabi Haifa hosts Ironi Nahariya in the final BSL game of the week on Monday.Haifawill be without former San Diego High School star Jeremy Tyler, whowalked out on the club last week and returned to the United States.
