Israel secured its place in the semifinals of the Haarlem basketball tournament in the Netherlands on Thursday, defeating MyGuide Amsterdam, 86-77.
The national team, which beat Brazilian side Minas Tenis Clube, 108-83, on Wednesday, will face Estonians Valga Welg in its final group game on Friday and will play its semifinal the following day.
Yehu Orland led Israel with 23 points against MyGuide Amsterdam, sinking seven of nine attempts from three-point range. Omri Caspi added 15 points, six assists and four rebounds for Israel.
Amsterdam, which is coached by Israeli Arik Shiback, stayed within striking distance during the first half of the game (the score was tied at 43 at the half), but the blue-and-white surged ahead in the third quarter and remained in front until the end of the encounter.
