Relegation to the National League is beginning to look like a real possibility for Betar Jerusalem after it dropped to yet another Premier League defeat on Sunday night.The slumping Bnei Yehuda snapped its seven-match winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Betar at Bloomfield Stadium, leaving the yellow-andblack just four points clear of Hapoel Beersheba and Hapoel Rishon Lezion, which are both in the relegation zone.Jerusalem failed to find the back of the net for a third straight match and has scored just two goals in its last seven clashes. With 10 goals from 15 games, Betar has the lowest total of the league’s 16 teams.After winning three of its first four encounters, Betar has picked up all three points only once over its past 11 matches and coach Yuval Naim understands his team has got a battle on its hands to avoid relegation.“I’m ashamed of our performance,” a downcast Naim said. “Our players didn’t give their all. We knew we were facing a difficult season but we didn’t know it would be this difficult.”
Betar was dismal from the start of Sunday’s match and two first-half goals from Pedro Galvan ensured Bnei Yehuda clinched all three points.Jerusalem’s defense completely broke down in the 30th minute, allowing Dino Ndlovu to sprint down the right flank before squaring the ball for Galvan for an easy finish.The Argentinian midfielder scored his second of the match from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime, with Eli Dasa recklessly bringing down Ndlovu in the box.Betar defender Andriy Pylyavskyi compounded the misery on his team with an own-goal in the 87th minute, tucking in a Pini Balili shot that he should have easily cleared.League-leader Hapoel Tel Aviv visits third-placed Ironi Kiryat Shmona on Monday.
