Shmuel Moses scored an unbeleivable 162 as Young Ashdod beat Ra'anana by 62 runs to move to the top of the Israel Cricket Association's Division 1 standings last week. Lions Lod remained unbeaten by defeating Dimona C by 76 runs, and Kiryat Gat won their second straight game in Division 2, beating Dimona A by three wickets. The big story definitely came in Ashdod, where Moses showed plenty of skill as well as concentration in compiling a massive individual score of 162. Moses, who was dropped on 15 and again on 47, made the visitors pay for their sloppy fielding, with powerful hitting, especially straight down the ground. Raymond Aston chipped in with a quick 38 at the end of the innings, taking Young Ashdod to 315 for nine in its 40 overs. Ra'anana got off to a decent start, with young Shlomi Korman (36) again showing his talent, but it failed to put a meaningful partnership together. Raz Ben Zaken scored an excellent 62, but he was fighting a hopeless cause and he was last man out with the score on 253. Although Moses was undoubtedly the man of the match, Young Ashdod captain Danny Malyankar also starred in taking 5-40 with the ball. Half-centuries from Shalom Rubin (61) and Isaac Massil (54) took Lions Lod to 293-8 versus host Dimona C. Sunny Ashtamkar (54) and Danny Ashtamkar (34) got runs in reply for the hosts, but the target was always going to be beyond them. Benny David (3-32) was the pick of the bowlers, as Dimona C was bowled out for 217 and Lions Lod became the only team to take the maximum number of points from its first two games. While batsmen dominated the Division 1 games, bowlers had the upper hand in the Division 2 game between Kiryat Gat and visiting Dimona A. Dimona A was dismissed for just 144, with three wickets each for Gabi Talkar and Godwin DeSouza. Kiryat Gat reached its target for the loss of seven wickets, despite 3-21 for Rafi Varsulkar.
