Greenberg to get title shot

Undefeated Israeli heavyweight Roman Greenberg, 23, is considered one of the rising stars of boxing's showcase division.

Undefeated Israeli heavyweight Roman Greenberg will step into the ring for the biggest bout of his career when he takes on Russian Alex Vassilev in March for the vacant IBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Title. Greenberg, 23, is considered one of the rising stars of boxing's showcase division. He takes a 21-0 record (14 KOs) into the fight, scheduled for March 18 in Monaco. In his last bout, Greenberg won a 98-93 decision over American prospect Kendrick Releford. Vassilev (16-14-1, 8 KOs) is a technical fighter, who has dropped down to fight at cruiserweight several times during his career. The 33-year-old's fights rarely see knock-outs. Six of his last seven bouts - spanning four years - have gone the distance, although Vassilev has only been on the winning end once, out-pointing Joseph Akhasamba of Kenya for the interim PABA heavyweight title last year.
