Iran appoints Artur Jorge as manager of national soccer team

Iran appointed Portuguese Artur Jorge as the manager of its national soccer team, the State Broadcasting Company announced on their website Thursday. The report said that the transitional committee of the Iranian Football Federation appointed the 61-year old Pourtuguese coach on Wednesday ahead of the February qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup. The committee is working as higher soccer authority until Iran's Soccer Federation formally elects a head. Jorge, who coached for the Portuguese, Cameroon and Swiss national teams, has to improve the Iranian team, which has lacked a manager for months.
