Last remaining Israeli ousted from quarters in Ramat Hasharon

The semifinals of the $10,000 ATP Futures tournament in Ramat Hasharon will take place on Friday morning, but will feature no Israelis after local interest ended in Thursday's quarterfinals. Amir Hadad, who is ranked 515 in the world, was the only Israeli in the quarters, but lost to junior world number one, 18-year-old Thiemo De Bakker 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. De Bakker, who won the junior Wimbledon title this year, will play Vjekoslav Skenderovic (456) of Croatia in one of Friday's semifinals. The other men's semi pits Lazer Magdnicev of Macedonia (480) against Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria (505). The women's semis will see Portuguese Neuza Silva (495) face Marrit Boonstra of the Netherlands (696), and fellow Dutchwoman Nicole Thyssen (467) against qualifier Stefanie Vogele (920) of Switzerland. Two more Futures tournaments will be held in Israel over the next couple of weeks. On November 27, the competition will begin in Hadar Yosef and Ramat Hasharon will host another tournament the following week. Admission to all events is free of charge.
