Israel Football Association chairman Avi Luzon was acquitted of inappropriate conduct on Sunday after the IFA's disciplinary court determined that there was reasonable doubt as to whether he did, in fact, verbally attack referee Liran Zilberman three weeks ago. Zilberman claimed in his match report and in court on Sunday that during the youth encounter between Maccabi Petah Tikva and Hapoel Kfar Saba on September 6, Luzon shouted towards him "coward, garbage, zero", and that when he looked at him, the chairman said "what are you looking at you coward? You are a piece of garbage". The IFA's court, however, decided to acquit Luzon, claiming there was reasonable doubt and insufficient evidence that Luzon had uttered those remarks due to the fact that numerous witnesses, including the referee's assistants, couldn't confirm Zilberman's version. "It's unheard of that a man that did nothing will be convicted of something based on one man's testimony when dozens others testify to the contrary," said Luzon, who became the first chairman in IFA history to stand trial. "I swear that if I had said these things I would have admitted to it."
