Nevo a two-time medalist at Euros

24-year-old swimmer clocks new Israeli record time of 4:04.49 minutes in the 400- meters individual medley final.

Gal Nevo claimed his second bronze medal in two days at the European Short Course Swimming Championships on Friday night, finishing third in the 400- meters individual medley final in Szczecin, Poland.
The 24-year-old clocked a new Israeli record time of 4:04.49 minutes on Friday and was only beaten by Hungarians Laszlo Cseh and David Verraszto.
Nevo also set a new national best in the 200m IM final on Thursday, taking a bronze with a time of 1:54.87m, with Cseh once more claiming the gold and Markus Rogan finishing second.
“I’m very happy I managed to break my Israeli records and become the first Israeli swimmer to win two medals at this event,” said Nevo, who also won bronze medals at the continental shortcourse championships two years ago and at the longcourse European Swimming Championships in 2010.
“I didn’t particularly target these championships, but I still managed to break the records I set a year ago. That shows I am moving in the right direction and gives me motivation for the future, although it says nothing about the Olympics.
“My target is to reach two semifinals and perhaps even a final in London.”
