Shahar Tzuberi got off to a flying start in the Sailing World Championships, which began on Friday in Cascais, Portugal.
The 18-year-old, who finished sixth at the Neil Pryde European Championships less than two months ago, is in third position in Portugal after ending Friday's and Saturday's races in first and third position respectively.
Olympic champion Gal Fridman is, however, continuing to struggle with his form and is placed in 26th position. Nimrod Mashiah, who finished the two races in 15th and 9th, is placed a further five places behind Fridman.
In the women's competition, Ma'ayan Davidovich is currently in 17th place, with 2003 world champion Lee Korzits placed in a dissapointing 31st position after a poor start.
Odi Gal and Gidi Kliger are in fourth position in the 470 Class, finishing the two races in fourth and fifth place.
In the Laser Radial competition, which began on Wednesday, Nofar Edelman is placed in a surprise fifth position.
Edelman and the rest of the sailors need to finish in the top 10 in Portugal to book a place in next years Beijing Olympics.
The championships will be concluded on Thursday, July 12, with the Neil Pryde competition finishing a day earlier and the Laser Radial contest ending on Monday.
