RiseHi lost just its second game in two years on Friday when it went down 9-8 to Aztek in amateur softball. RiseHi's last defeat also came against Aztek in the 2004 finals series, when it fell in Game 2.
Aztek scored five runs in the second inning on a Adam Watstein homer and RBI-singles by Dave Epstein and Alan Tover.
Tover added an RBI-double in the fourth to make it 6-3.
RiseHi tied it at 6 in the fifth, but Aztek catcher Chaim Baldasare hit an RBI-double to pull ahead in the sixth.
RiseHi scored two in the bottom half to lead 8-7, but Aztek had five straight hits, topped by Adam's go-ahead two-RBI double in the 7th inning, to take the lead 9-8.
Aztek Pitcher Fred Moncharsh got RiseHi to go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh, to secure the win.
Naftali Schwartz had three hits, including a triple and played solid shortstop, while Ariel Gilor had three hits and two RBIs and made some crucial catches in the outfield.
Applied Materials Rehovot 24, Optica International 7
Applied Materials Rehovot recorded its first victory of the season on Wednesday at Optica International's expense. After back-to-back one-run losses, Rehovot rode the hot arm of pitcher Michael Moronov, who had a no-hitter through three innings and smashed a double and a triple.
Aaron Kurtz helped cement the victory with two double plays, one to end the fourth and another in the fifth innings. Aaron also went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a triple and five RBIs.
Yaniv Johary went 4-for-5 with five runs scored, Yoav Eliyahu went 3-for-4 with a homer and a triple and Mark Wachspress was 2-for-4 with two triples.
Rehovot jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back.
Fourteen-year old Yair Amir, a defensive replacement at left, made a fine running grab to record the final out of the game.
The Suns 22, Nefesh B'Nefesh 3
The Suns' Andre Isaacson pitched a masterful game and captain Darius Schwartz led the charge at the plate on Wednesday night. Isaacson extended his streak of innings without allowing an earned run to 14.
Schwartz went 4-for-5 with a home run and 5 RBIs. He also made a spectacular catch in centerfield.
Other hot Suns included Chaim Wizman, who went 4-for-5 and showed impressive power; Kenny Joungreis, who went 3-for-5 and played a great defensive game at third base; and Marc Tobin, who showed why he is among the league's best catchers by foiling two stolen base attempts.
