Turkish FM Hakan Fidan also said that the idea that US or Israeli airstrikes on Iran could lead to regime change was "a pipe dream."

The US has sent a small team of troops to Nigeria following December airstrikes on ISIS targets, marking the first confirmation of US forces on the ground.

"People are extremely angry," a former official said, adding a US attack could lead Iranians to rise up again. "The wall of fear has collapsed. There is no fear left."
