Stephen Spencer Pittman was charged on Monday with maliciously damaging or destroying a building by means of fire or an explosive, according to an affidavit filed in US District Court in Mississippi.

The description of the shooting claimed that "this didn’t happen in a vacuum - it’s the direct result of anti-American traitors like Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (who is Jewish) fanning the flames."

Madison, Mississippi resident Stephen Spencer Pittman was alleged to have used an axe to break a window of Jackson’s only synagogue before dawn,  and entered to pour gasoline and set it ablaze.

The suspect has been released under a series of conditions, including restriction from coming within 100 meters of any Jewish house of worship, community center, or community event.

Redlands resident Garrett Bailey Stater was charged with terrorizing and making terrorist threats in connection to the December 12 incident in which he fired several airsoft rounds from his vehicle.

Attacks on synagogues are treated as part of a broader problem, but all too often, attacks on Jewish-owned, kosher, and Israeli restaurants are treated as isolated incidents.

The petition is based on the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act (CAHWCA), which allows the prosecution of crimes listed in the act, regardless of where they were committed.
