Israel maintains a naval blockade of the Gaza Strip and sets a varying fishing limit, which currently extends to a maximum of nine nautical miles.
The Hamas leader said that his movement was not being required to pay a “political price” for the lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh made a speech on Eid al-Adha and spoke of the situation in the Gaza Strip. “There will be no political price for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.”
The amount and types of goods that enter Gaza are contingent on Hamas activities in the coming days.
This is the second time in the past two months that Palestinians from Gaza have sent a flotilla into the Mediterranean in an attempt to breach the naval blockade.
Gaza has no connection to biblical Azazel, but in the Israeli narrative, the terms merged.
Gaza has been controlled since 2007 by the Islamist group Hamas. Israel and Egypt, citing security concerns, maintain a de facto blockade on the impoverished coastal enclave.
“They’ll they need orthopedic surgeries, possibly blood transfusions. And the number of doctors here, it’s not enough," said Haj Yahya, who spoke to the Jerusalem Post from Gaza.
Israel and Egypt both have heavy restrictions on the movement of people and goods entering and exiting Gaza.
