Indictment

The arrest took place on February 19, 2025, following extensive monitoring of the mayor's social media posts.

The indictment charged the suspects with offenses of serious injury and abuse under aggravated assault. 

Investigators claim that the assailant would stare down his opponents in the courtroom in a "case unlike any other."

The indictment, which lists 59 charges, accuses Ben Ari of publishing dozens of racist statements against Arab citizens of Israel between 2017 and 2023. 

"Political elements are pressuring the law enforcement to make this a watershed," said the brother of a suspect, adding that this is out of the playbook of autocracies.

The terrorist is a resident of the West Bank, who carried out the attack in Jaffa, where seven civilians were murdered and 16 others wounded.
