Palestinian sources claimed that Dahlan has been funding dozens of disgruntled Fatah members in the refugee camps in the West Bank as part of his effort to undermine Abbas.
The employees claim that the PA illegally suspended their salaries because of their political affiliations.
The PA suspects that Dahlan, who has been living in the United Arab Emirates since 2011, is working to establish centers of power in the West Bank as part of a scheme to undermine Abbas.
With Palestinians potentially going to the polls in 2021, eyes are turning to Dahlan as a potential challenger to Mahmoud Abbas.
The arrests were carried out in the West Bank and included Haytham al-Halabi and Salim Abu Safia, both senior members of Dahlan's faction, a statement from the group said.
