While falling unemployment – a key measure of labor under-utilization – is certainly welcome news, the rate itself does not paint the full picture of the Israeli job market.

"This is the strongest expression of confidence in Israel's economy," Finance Minister Kahlon said.

The meeting comes while the US is leading a summit in Bahrain that is focusing on the Palestinian economy and is part of the rollout of US President Donald Trump's "Deal of the Century."

During Monday’s cabinet meeting it was agreed that each minister will be able to decide on the cuts in his or her own office, not the Finance Ministry.

Additional sources of revenue will include the transfer of funds from Israel’s national lottery company Mifal HaPais and the National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi).

I voted for Kahlon because of all the Knesset Members, he is the most successful at enacting domestic reforms.
