An Iranian protester told KAN Reshet Bet that many Iranians admire Netanyahu and Israeli strikes, while blaming economic collapse, repression, and inflation for the unrest.

In a video, protesters can be heard shouting "Marg bar Khamenei," which translates to "Death to Khamenei." 

Separately, several Iranian Kurdish opposition parties issued a joint statement urging a general strike also on Thursday to support the protests.

The people of Iran are no longer whispering the name Pahlavi. They are shouting it.

At a bare minimum, statements of support and solidarity from democratic leaders are crucial to sustaining protest momentum and ensuring continued media attention.

“What we are seeing in Iran is not simply an economic crisis. These are primarily symptoms of a deep political crisis,” said Yazdanpana. “The state, the political system, is in crisis."

At least 1,203 Iranians have been detained in the previous nine days of protest activity, according to HRANA's data. Still, "the actual number of detainees is estimated to be significantly higher."

The universities, historically the bastions of anti-monarchist Marxism, are now echoing with chants of “Down with the three corrupts! Mullah, leftist, Mujahid.”
