Sharp increases in arrivals and departures made 2007 the busiest summer in Ben-Gurion Airport's history, the Israel Airports Authority reported Sunday.
A record 2.4 million travelers on 13,930 flights passed through the airport in July and August, driving the total amount of air traffic past the numbers for the first eight months of 2006 - a dramatic turnaround following the severe drop in air traffic to the country after last summer's Second Lebanon War.
After experiencing lower levels of inward and outbound traffic for most of the year's first six months, Ben-Gurion Airport witnessed increases of 24.5 percent and 30% in traffic for July and August, respectively, over the same months a year ago.

IAA officials predict that a total of 9.5 million passengers will enter and exit the country via Ben-Gurion by the end of the year, making 2007 the busiest year in the airport's history.
