Palestinians from the village of Tuqu' on Tuesday helped rescue a Jewish resident of the nearby settlement of Tekoa and her four-month-old son after their car overturned on the village's main road.

One of the men who had helped extract the two from the car told the Palestinian Ma'an news agency that the woman was speeding when she lost control of the vehicle.

"The car flipped over three times in the middle of the road," he said. "The boys who were on the scene quickly ran towards the car and began extracting the passengers."

He said they broke the window of the car, first pulled out the infant before moving on to extract the mother.

"The mother was in shock," he said. "One of the residents called an Israeli ambulance, which arrived promptly and evacuated the injured to hospital."

The man added that he did not hesitate before rushing to the aid of the woman, despite the feelings of enmity between settlers and Arabs.

"The human concern overcame any other feeling, as well as the feelings of enmity and hatred that the settlers arouse in the area," he said.

The village is the site of frequent clashes between Palestinians and IDF soldiers, as well as stoning attacks against Israeli vehicles. Recently, the army installed a metal fence along a curve in the road where many of the attacks take place.
