In a soccer match between Australia and the Palestinian team that took place on Friday evening in the United Arab Emirates the Australians defeated the Palestinian players three nil, the match was held as part of the Asian Confederation Cup 2019.

On Wednesday the Australian Jewish Association [AJA] issued a press release calling on the Football Federation of Australia [FFA] not to hold the match "as “Palestine” is not a country recognized by the international community," said the AJA.

Furthermore, the Asian Football Confederation is "dominated by Arab interests" and despite Israel having won the Asian Confederation Cup in 1964 the AFC removed any mentioning of that victory from their official 2015 promotion video, the AJA said.
