Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced a scheduled visit to Nigeria this weekend. The visit comes as Nigeria becomes provisional head of the UN Security Council.
Ahmadinejad said the visit is to strengthen ties between the two countries. The Iranian ambassador to Nigeria noted that Ahmadinejad had visited both Uganda and Zimbabwe in April.
