Knesset Member Ahmed Tibi (United Arab List - Ta'al) called on the international community to press Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to succeed in direct negotiations with the Palestinians in an Los Angeles Times report, Israel Radio reported Friday.

According to the report, Tibi said that he and the majority of Palestinians are pessimistic about the success of talks.

Tibi called for the rejection of Netanyahu's demand that Palestinians should recognize Israel as a Jewish state since "it requires Palestinian negotiators to relegate more than 1 million Palestinian citizens of Israel to an inferior standing," he said.
