The Cabinet approved Sunday the appointment of Amir Gilat to chair the Executive Committee of the Israel Broadcasting Association, Israel Radio reported. Gilat previously served as chairman of the outgoing committee.
In an official statement, the Cabinet said that Gilat's appointment came in light of the recent exceptional circumstances facing the authority, including the fact that the position had not been chaired for some time, and that several members of the committee had left or never finished their term. The government said that a chairman was needed immediately to stabilize the situation.
