Casualties feared after southeast Turkey explosion

ISTANBUL - An explosion rocked a police checkpoint in the town of Cizre in southeast Turkey on Friday, news channels reported.
There were no immediate details on casualties, but ambulances were sent to the scene, according to channel NTV, which showed large plumes of smoke billowing from the site. Cizre is located in Sirnak, a province that borders both Syria and Iraq and has a largely Kurdish population.
