Wikileaks has released a cable from US diplomats stationed in Saudi Arabia describing how popular American entertainment TV programs as well as Hollywood movies were much more effective than the US-funded al-Hurra news channel at generating a positive view of the US among average Saudis, despite the hundreds of millions of dollar the US government had invested in the news channel.

Among the pieces of entertainment mentioned in the cable was George Clooney's Michael Clayton and Al Pacino and Robin Williams' Insomnia.
