The Tel Aviv District Attorney filed murder charges against a 27-year-old Eritrean citizen on Monday.
Earlier this month, Kahsai Alma, who came to Israel in 2010, allegedly stabbed his pregnant wife over 100 times all over her body with a 15 cm knife after the couple argued. The couple were in their south Tel Aviv apartment at the time.
His wife, who was also an African migrant and who had been living in Israel since February, died together with her unborn child.
After the murder, Alma changed his clothes and fled, the indictment said. He was arrested several days later after he threatened two people with a knife in a Tel Aviv park. The two men recognized Alma from police wanted posters and contacted the authorities.
