Egyptian banks, stock market to close amid ongoing protests

CAIRO — Egyptian banks and the stock market will be closed on Sunday, the first day of the week, due to ongoing anti-government protests in the country.

Overnight Saturday, hundreds around Cairo looted banks, smashed cars, tore down street signs and pelted armored riot police vehicles with paving stones torn from roadways.
