The 23-year-old shooter who opened fire and killed a man in an Eilat hotel Friday morning has been identified as as William Hershkovitz.

The New Yorker was in Israel as a part of the Oranim program supported by the Jewish Agency, which brings Jews from around the world for volunteer work, study and internship.

Hershkovitz was fired from his internship in the hotel kitchen a day before the shooting, which left one person dead and three others suffering from shock.
