Entertainment complex to be open on Saturdays irks haredim

Secular youths in Jerusalem celebrated the opening of an entertainment complex Tuesday built on the ruins of a 19th century train station in Jerusalem near the German Complex, Army Radio reported.
The complex, which was to be open on Saturdays, raised ire with haredi residents of the city who strictly observe the Sabbath.
"This desecrated the city and this desecrates the Sabbath, and therefore we will do everything possible so that this won't happen," said Israel Kellerman, a member of the Jerusalem City Council.
The complex was opened ahead of Jerusalem city elections to be held in October, during which secular-haredi relations were expected to be a key issue.
