France urges PM to abandon W. Bank building plans

France joined the United States Thursday in condemning the government's plans to build an additional 300 housing units in the West Bank, urging Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to abandon the idea.
"We call on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to abstain from implementing these plans. We recall that colonization in all its forms is illegal under international law, undermines the two-state solution at ground level, and is an obstacle to peace,” said French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero.
He urged Netanyahu to "avoid provocation and renew dialogue."
