Gas company: Worker pressing button caused power outage

The power outages that started in northern Israel and reached all the way to Tel Aviv on Monday, were caused by a worker employed by the natural gas utility Netivei Gaz, the company revealed.
According to the firm, one of its workers either accidentally pushed or leaned on a button that shut down the natural gas supply to the Hagit power plant that supplies electricity to parts of northern and central Israel.
The Hagit plant, near Yokne'am, produces 900 megawatts of electricity when running at full capacity.
