Reacting to Shelly Yacimovich's announcement that she will run for the Labor party's chairmanship, former social welfare minister Isaac Herzog said he was concerned about Labor becoming a "niche party," which he hinted Labor would become under the social-economically-minded Yacimovich.

"It's important for Labor to raise both diplomatic and economic issues," he said "and I'm sure we'll be able to do that under my leadership."
