JAKARTA - Indonesia's state prosecutors sought life in jail for Islamist cleric Abu Bakar Bashir for helping finance a paramilitary training camp, a Jakarta court heard on Monday.

Bashir only has a small number of followers in the world's most populous Muslim country, though a heavy sentence could heighten resentment among Islamists and militant groups, some of whom have already threatened reprisal attacks after the US killing of Osama bin Laden.
