The main cause and goal of the Muslim nations is to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and to free Jerusalem, an Iranian defense official was quoted as saying by Iran's Fars News Agency on Wednesday.

Gholam Reza Jalali, the head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization, was speaking ahead of International Quds Day, scheduled to be held throughout the Muslim world on Friday. "Today, freedom of the holy Quds (Jerusalem) has became a cause for Muslims and a motto in their uprisings," he said referencing the Arab Spring.

"The Quds day … is a demonstration of the fact that resistance is the only way to put a complete end to the Israeli aggression and the only way to its annihilation. The Muslim nations of the world should support the oppressed people of Palestine on the path towards the liberation of Palestine," Fars quoted Jalali as saying.
