Iranian official: We support 'regional revolutions'

Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani expressed support for the popular uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt Sunday, telling the Islamic Republic's legislative body that "the evolutionary trend of such regional revolutions has surprised dictatorial regimes," Iranian news agency Fars reported.

"The time has reached to overcome puppet autocratic regimes by relying on the Islamic teachings," he said. In his speech, Larijani also slammed the West and particularly the US, pointing out what he called contradictory positions that show their lack of knowledge about Muslim states and the Middle East, according to the report.
