Jerusalem police still on high alert, prepare for Friday prayers

Police to continue enfor

Security forces will be deployed in high numbers throughout Jerusalem on Thursday in order to avoid a renewal of Arab rioting and violence in the city. Access to Al Aksa Mosque will continue to be limited to Muslim men over the age of 50 who carry Israeli ID cards and women. Despite incendiary statements by Arab leaders, the streets of Jerusalem were quiet on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, police will conduct a situation assessment on Thursday in preparation for Friday prayers at the mosque. The capital has been on high alert since the end of last week.
