Jundallah confirms arrest of leader by Iranian gov’t

CAIRO — An armed Sunni group leading an insurgency in southeastern Iran accused the US and other foreign intelligence services on Wednesday of helping the Iranian government capture its leader.
The Jundallah group confirmed the arrest of Abdulmalik Rigi on Wednesday, a day after the government announced it, and vowed retaliation. In a statement on its Web site, Jundallah said US, Afghan and Pakistani intelligence played a major role in trailing Rigi's movements.
Iran has long accused the US and Britain of aiding Rigi, a charge they deny. The Teheran government also claims Jundallah has links to al-Qaida.
