Knesset c'tee approves reading of court appointment law

The Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved for the first reading, a judicial reform law that would change the way lawyers are appointed to a committee that nominates Supreme Court Justices. Seven MKs voted for the bill and two opposed it.
A number of opposition members of the committee did not participate in the vote, claiming that changes made to the bill were not brought for discussion before the vote and called the vote itself "illegal."
